2007 AAU National Junior Olympic Results
July 2007

At the end of July, the Skip Wizards Team, along with their families, traveled to Knoxville Tennessee for the Junior Olympic Games. The Junior Olympics Competition consisted of teams from all over the United States and Canada . An athlete must attend a Regional Competition and qualify to attend the Jr. Olympics. Every competitive jumper on the Skip Wizards team qualified to attend. There were many personal bests and many ribbons and medals won by the Skip Wizard team.

The Jr. Olympics combines events for overall awards. The single rope award combines single speed, single power and single freestyle. In the younger age groups the speed events had to be completed first to decide who would compete with their single freestyle routines. The 11-12 and 13-14 age groups each had over 75 competitors! Kirsten Moler from Jefferson placed 7th overall after her 3 events, and Lilly McFadden of Brunswick placed 8th  overall in the 11-12 age group. Jill Fawley placed 5th in the 13-14 age group. Stephanie Harshman placed 4th overall and Elizabeth Connelly placed 5th  overall in the 18 and over age group.

In the Double Dutch category, there were five events combined for the overall winner:  three speed events and two freestyle events. After combining these scores, Jill, Emily Harris, Brooke Price and Sarah Woods placed 2nd overall and received silver medals. Morgan Flynn, Stephanie, Elizabeth and Alyssa Arey placed 2nd in all 5 individual events for overall 2nd place and also brought home silver.

Other noteworthy results for individual events were: Jill - 1st in single speed, Sarah - 4th in single speed, Kirsten - 2nd in single power, Elizabeth - 3rd in speed and 4th in power, Kirsten and Lilly - 2nd in pairs power, Stephanie and Elizabeth - 3rd in pairs speed and 2nd in Pairs power, Sarah, Emily, Jill and Brooke- 2nd in the 4x30 Double Dutch speed relay and 3rd in Double Dutch power. In single freestyle: Jill placed 5th, and Stephanie placed 3rd in their respective age groups.

The most exciting part of the Jr. Olympics came the last day of competition, The Jr. and Senior Team routines. This year, the Skip Wizards had both age groups competing. 7 jumpers in the junior team group with jumpers under 13 years old and 12 jumpers in the senior routine in the 13 and over age group. The team routines take hours and hours of extra practices to perfect and get just right. When all was said and done the junior routine after an almost flawless performance placed 5th and the senior jumpers took home silver medals for their routine, placing second.

The members of the junior team were: Anna Thornton, Emily Gutierrez, Samantha Kominos, Lauren Acierto, Alyssa Zimmerman, Lilly McFadden, and Kirsten Moler.

The Senior team members were: Morgan Flynn, Elizabeth Connelly, Stephanie Harshman, Alyssa Arey, Jessica Kantner, Aimee Briggs, Ariel Geisbert, Alison Mader, Jill Fawley, Emily Harris, Brooke Price, and Sarah Woods.
